I noticed Your information on Internet about the possibility of registering, inwards, and pay VAT on Malta and wish to know how to do this, and the cost of this. We have purchased a ship (Hallber Rassy 54) for delivery in Spain at the end of August 2012. The ship is new registered in a company of St. Kitts and Nevis. We buy non-company. The boat is exported from Sweden in 2011 and have not paid the EU VAT. The boat referred to sail around the Mediterranean 3-4 years with a view to longer stays in Croatia and Turkey. We wish to correct/lawfully pay EU VAT. This lease, or the whole amount in connection with inwards and new registration.

Some questions:
1. should the ship be in Malta in order to be registered and obtain Malteisk flag?
2. The ship must be on Malta to carry inwards and pay sales tax to the Customs Office?
3. The owner must be a Malteisk company or natural person can also – UE citizens — be the owner?

Please advise how we move on.
